Research design

A proposal claims a convenience sample of 40 students can establish a causal effect of a teaching method on national outcomes. In a short response, evaluate that design.

Short written response

The sample cannot identify a national causal effect: the group was not randomly assigned and is too small and too local to represent that population.

The questions would not let me treat a small study as settled evidence. That is the habit I needed for a research degree.

OutcomeUsed the postgraduate guide and full mock to practise evidence limits under time.
